ACAPS, in collaboration with IOM’s Needs and Population Monitoring (NPM) project, has established an Analysis Hub in Cox’s Bazar. This Analysis Hub supports operational actors in providing analytical briefs, by looking at primary data, conducting secondary data review, and discussing with key stakeholders on different themes. As an Information Analyst, working remotely, I:● Supported the overall informational needs of the Rohingya Response through designing and producing analytical reports (in consultation with key stakeholders) covering multi-sector and key thematic areas concerning Rohingya and Host community needs in Cox’s Bazar.● Contributed to the establishment and maintenance of Analysis Hub information management systems. ● Coordinated joint analysis with other key IM colleagues, including supporting the Joint Multi-Sectoral Needs Assessment (J-MSNA) products.● Collaborated with key working groups and other stakeholders to develop products that contributed towards the understanding of humanitarian need, as well as the fulfilment of the Humanitarian Response Plan or other joint response plans in Cox’s Bazar. ● Supported ACAPS global, in Geneva, with Bangladesh-related analysis and products.Key Accomplishments● Developed a series of key thematic reports focused on host community, who have been largely overlooked in the response. The reports were used by INGOs and NGOs to inform their programme design and implementation for 2021.● Our work was cited in five peer-review journals, used by Johns Hopkins to explain the dangers of modelling without context analysis, and used by MSF, IFRC, and IOM to alter their community engagement strategies.

Provided analytical support on a background paper on Extreme Poverty for the 8th Five Year Plan (8FYP) for the Government of Bangladesh and supported senior academic members of the project team by conducting qualitative and quantitative research to create a stronger evidence platform for policy development.Responsibilities included:● Writing literature reviews on Extreme Poverty, offering causes of extreme poverty, reflections on effective policy interventions, impacts on poverty reduction strategies, as well as potential policy innovations.● Cataloguing on-going COVID-19 research in Bangladesh and identifying possible impact COVID-19 measures will have on Extreme Poverty - to advise on poverty reduction strategies for 8FYP.

Start Fund Bangladesh is a £10 million rapid emergency response fund created by the Start Network with support from UK aid from the British people. It activates funding within 72 hours of a crisis alert. The fund is accessible to 26 national and 20 international member NGOs operating in Bangladesh to respond early to under the radar emergencies.As an Analyst, I:● Developed context specific analysis tools to support the decision-making process of Start Fund’s rapid response funding mechanism.● Created Briefing Notes, as well as other analytical products, which analyse pre-crisis and in-crisis data, and learning from previous hazard incidents, that would enable organisations to make evidence-based decisions for operations.● Established links with strategic partners, such as needs assessment groups, academics, research organisations, donors, Government, as well as other INGOs and Local NGOs.● Coordinated workshops, training sessions and meetings for Start Fund Bangladesh committee and members, as well as other high level stakeholders. Additionally, maintaining meeting minutes and documentation in project archives, as well as implementing communications strategies for such events.● Prepared and reviewed the budget for the Analysis component of Start Fund Bangladesh.Key Accomplishments● Successfully facilitated decision-making through Briefing Notes, and helped allocate a total of £2,909,653 for 14 small-medium scale crises from August 2017 to September 2019. The largest allocation for a single response was for £660,000 for widespread flooding in 2017.● The analytical products I have produced have been used in the writing of the National Flood Preparedness Plan in Bangladesh, amongst other publications by Government and other INGOs.● Trained in the GECARR Analysis Tool, developed by World Vision International, and am a member of the Forewarn community (a global network of risk analysts).

For the main conference, I was able to enlist a group of well known speakers to participate as a result of the networking skills that I have built through my client-based employments over the years.
