About Lamont E. Mitchell
Greetings, I am Lamont E Mitchell (Monte) and I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. My journey is life has been a movie that dealt with success, tragedy, laughter, spirituality, education, faith and plenty of unconditional love. Since the age of four years old, all I ever wanted to do was play Baseball. Seeing Mr. October hit four homeruns in two games solidified what I wanted to do when I was of age. Other than my passion for Baseball was being my own boss. In 1979, I had my first taste of successful. There was a blizzard in the city and no school! Two of my cousins and I shoveled snow for five blocks and who knows how many hours. We all came home with over $200 a piece and couldn't wait to do it again the next day. By the age of ten, we created an enterprise in the neighborhood. We did everything for everybody. Lawn care, garbage removal, cleaning out houses, washing cars and most importantly tutoring or coaching our peers.As the love for Baseball increased even more, so did my drive of being my own boss. I grew up around several business owners who taught me discipline, respect, honesty and leadership. I took our three man operation and expanded it to 20. We were in high demand and our customer based increased tremendously. My duties were to administer and delegate jobs and the workforce. The community embraced us for miles around and still not old enough to legally hold a job or pay taxes, we were making more than some working a 9 to 5.As we got older, we did something that is now called franchising. The more good work we provided, the more demand we created. Two economic lessons learned before I even knew what economics was.By the time I reached high school, I had enough money to purchase a car even though I couldn't drive. I gave the money to my brother and he bought a 1979 Chevy Camaro. He would take me anywhere and of course taught me how to drive. I was ready to live my dreams of playing in the MLB and owning a Fortune 500 business. With success there is sometimes struggle or tragedy that shapes your life. Losing a loved one is a life changing event most experience that can break you if you don't lean on your faith. From the age of 12 until the age of 51, I have loss significant people in my life that has torn me down only to build me back up stronger. It's a lesson to understand and embrace morality. Also, dealing with the human aspect of life molds your daily walk and often humbles you.Throughout the years, my growth in business and life has led me to where am I today. Get to know me!
