I completed a seasonal position as a Minnesota-licensed pesticide applicator treating lakes and ponds to control unwanted aquatic vegetation. This physically-demanding work entailed teamwork and independent initiative to apply recommended quantities of regulated chemicals at the optimum time to effectively provide maximum control of weeds and related components in a variety of urban and rural lacustrine systems.

I worked as an environmental scientist and project manager in HEI’s Maple Grove, MN office during the last few years. My work for a variety of clients focused on water quality, assessing impaired aquatic systems, designing and implementing water-quality monitoring programs to better understand water resources, and evaluating resource-management practices. My work encompassed geochemistry, limnology, hydrology, hydraulics, and computer modeling. I conducted work primarily in Minnesota, but also in North Dakota and Montana. Minnesota, Montana, Maine, And Other Us Locations

Most of my career was working as a hydrologist for the U.S. Geological Survey; proposing, planning, and completing a variety of complex resource investigations. Most recently, I served as the Water-Quality Specialist for the USGS Minnesota Water-Science Center. My work encompassed all aspects of natural and anthropogenic resources that are related to water quality. I provided training and consultation to other scientists and technicians that collected water-quality data. Critical aspects were the need to collect representative samples of the media being assessed; including streams, lakes, wetlands, and ground water. Most of my experience has been acquired in Minnesota, but I also lived and worked for many years each in Montana and Maine. I managed and supervised a modest-sized staff, managed District laboratories, facilitated reports preparation and production, and reviewed and quality-assured analytical data from a variety of internal and external sources.

I performed a variety of laboratory analyses on samples collected as part of eutrophication study of Shagawa Lake in northern Minnesota.
