Developed new methods towards this goal, including assisting in the development of an unconventional in-vitro release method. Employed materials analysis techniques including SAXS, TEM, Raman, polarized optical microscopy, and semi-quantitative FTIR model fitting. Wrote additional technical documents including SOPs for advanced instrumentation and detailed characterization-related reports. Consulted literature resources to develop an injection force method that predicts the viscosity of semi-solid injectable formulations and then presented this method to Tolmar's R&D division. Taught several undergraduate laboratories in both general chemistry and analytical chemistry. Research interests during this time period focused on dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs), specifically those incorporating Co(II)(LL)3-type complexes as mediators rather than the prolific iodide/triiodide. Primarily designed and synthesized various copper and ruthenium inorganic sensitizers with an emphasis on incorporating covalently-bound electron donors. This work has been disseminated through several publications, posters, and talks.

Research interests during this time period focused on two separate projects. The first project focused on a new synthesis of titanium dioxide nanoparticles using laser ablation of titanium pellets. These nanoparticles were intended to be incorporated into slurries that would ultimately be used in the construction of dye-sensitized solar cells. The second project focused on the indirect electro-oxidation of acetate anion using ferrocene derivatives. This was primarily accomplished through systematic cyclic voltammetry.
