I am an Ed Rep for Brook Mays Music, a company that has been involved in many facets of music education for well over one hundred years. I currently serve the Junior Highs and High Schools of Richardson ISD and Highland Park ISD. I also assist our company with all of the other districts we serve throught the DFW metroplex. I am based out of the Dallas store, located on LBJ Freeway, opposite the remains of Valley View Mall (R.I.P.). This is where I bought my first supplies when I switched to bassoon - in 1980!

Meadowbrook Ms

Solo Band Director - taught beginning and advanced MS band. Taught and played all instruments. The program was routinely hampered by scheduling on both ends of the spectrum (STEM scheduling, low-performing students as deemed by the district). The Pandemic also hit our school hard the last two years.

Celina High School

I was hired to grow a small band program into a larger, more-competitive program similar to neighboring schools. Unfortunately, the district forgot that the band director runs the program, not the parents or the school staff. We mutually parted ways.

Fred F. Florence Middle School

I worked with 7th- and 8th-grade MS students in two concert bands. I also taught beginning band to four classes of 6th-grade students. I left the position to return to the HS level of teaching, and to be closer to our home in northern Frisco.

Miller Intermediate

I taught Beginning Band to 5th- & 6th-grade students. I was the lone teacher to twelve different sections of band, with each section meeting every other day, in like-instrument groups. I taught and played all of the instruments, including percussion and double reeds. I chose to pursue this position in an effort to improve part of our district's beginning-band program, which had struggled for several years. I also served as the PLC Coordinator for the district's six beginning-band instructors for three years. I led monthly meetings which addressed a number of issues, including recruitment, curriculum, and pedagogy.

Hastings High School

I was the Head Director of the Hastings HS "Big Bear" Band, which included three concert bands, as well as a marching band. I left the position to transfer to another position in the district to teach beginning band. It was in the hopes that those kids would eventually be better-prepared for both HS band and MS band.

Hastings High School (2000-2003), Elsik High School (1999-2000)

I was the Assistant Band Director at Elsik HS for one year, then transferred next door to Hastings HS.

College Station, Tx

My first six years as a band director - taught just about everything involved with band: 6th-grade beginners, MS band, HS band, HS marching band, and HS jazz band. I also wrote marching drill one year. This is also where I began arranging HS marching music, starting with our Fall 1996 show - Danny Elfman. It was the last year that the state allowed a 10-minute show.
