I've always loved music, having learned piano from an early age, then drums and dabbling in some singing. That said, my ability was such that I was never going to have a career as a professional musician! But when the opportunity to use my skills and abilities in project management in the music industry came along, I could't say "no".It was a baptism by fire as I was on tour within weeks of starting my position at Parachute Music. My job was made up of the following roles:Artist Development, Personnel Development & HR, International Tour Management, Financial Management and General Administration.KPI's included targets set for staff development, income growth and market development (booking and touring the band into new markets - primarily in the USA & Australia, but also Europe, Africa and South East Asia).During my time in this role I successfully: - grew the band from touring a stripped down team of 4 to full band and support crew of up to 10- expanded territories from USA and Australia to also include the UK, the Netherlands, South Africa, Kenya and Singapore- developed opportunities in the USA to include top 5 Music Festivals in the market- released at an international level, 2 recordings - including a live recording at a music festival which I also oversaw

Though I enjoyed being on the tools, I wanted to push myself and develop administrative and leadership facets of my career. Project Management offered that opportunity and I joined the team at Construction Plus who were working in the light commercial and high density residential market. Being a part of a team again was fantastic - building a collaborative approach and having the opportunity to draw on the wisdom and experience of colleagues set the tone for growing my career.After 4 months of being at the organisation, I was promoted to Senior Project Manager. This was a real boost to my confidence and gave me a tangible outcome that acknowledged the effort I had put in to delivering my projects on time, on budget and to spec.This environment also fostered my early leadership development as I managed and motivated the various suppliers working on my projects, navigating disruptors and road blocks along the way. A strong sense of personal responsibility combined with good interpersonal skills provided the strong foundation which lead to my success in this role.

Following my qualification in Carpentry, I set out to build my own business in construction. I always enjoyed the challenge of remodels and renovations over new home construction so focused in that area.
