GIS Job Description- Provide technical assistance through the collection and interpretation of geospatial information, as well as the creation of GIS-aided maps for integration in natural resource management plans, geohazard analysis and mitigating strategies (including fire control), and biodiversity conservation and monitoring.- Work with the Technical Team Leader and Natural Resource Management Officer on biodiversity conservation, enterprise development, and Payment for Ecosystems Services (PES) and other related resource management activities Working responsibilities and experience-Provide GIS-aided solutions to Resource Management needs, including watershed delineation, buffer analysis, land-use validation, and water source mapping-Creates, edits, manipulates, and acquires various GIS data (primary and secondary) necessary for the Natural Resource Management needs-Creates maps for the management plans of partner LGUs-Participates in the conduct of field validation, including GPS reading & processing and transect mapping.- Manages the geospatial database for the project's resource management and biodiversity conservation and monitoring needs.- Provides technical assistance to LGUs through GIS-aided maps and conducts capacity building activities through GIS trainings and seminars- Participates in the conduct of training, workshops, and seminars for beneficiaries and/or partner organizations. - Coordinates with staffs, partners, and beneficiaries for the efficient implementation of project activities- Provide monthly and quarterly progress reports to the Philippines Country Director.

On-field tasks:-Setting-up Trimble GPS receivers to ensure seamless and accurate LiDAR data acquisition-Responsible in management and supervision of local hires to secure the GPS set-ups-Conducts strategic reconnaissance of base stations where the GPS receivers will be set-Monitoring of on-field weather conditions to ensure optimal LiDAR data acquisition-Liaises with government agencies, partner organizations, and individuals to ensure all procedures and protocols are met prior to any LiDAR operationOff-field / Office Tasks: -Updates areas with LiDAR data acquired via Google Earth-Performs GIS operations on the SWATH (acquired LiDAR data) such as digitization, area calculation, and data conversion -Secures and manages the database of Shapefiles of all the acquired LiDAR data-Liaises with suppliers, agencies, and individuals to ensure that all documents are complied and secured by all parties-Responsible for the collection, standardization, and analysis of GIS data sets and portraying them visually via maps and diagrams-Responsible for the management, assessment, and tasking of the On the Job Trainees-Handled procurement of equipment, goods, and services relevant to the operation
