A registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas with 25 years of experience covering almost all segments of the utility industry, a REA (Co-op), Integrated Utility (CPL, now AEP Texas), Municipal Utilities (Denton & Austin Energy), and non-regulated companies (ENRON and Luminant).Accomplishments in the non-regulated utility sector have included tasks such as being able to "build a business within a business" (QSE operations) at the City of Denton and in the first year of operations save the citizens of Denton $13.5 million dollars compared to a prior PPA. At Luminant, successfully led a team of power professionals which returned an average of $10 million/year in revenues through CRR (nodal market) and TCR (zonal market) hedging 2010-2012. Developed an Excel based optimization model that saved Luminant approximately $7 million dollars in outsourcing wind scheduling. Trained several members of Luminant’s management team on principles of LMP pricing for ERCOT’s nodal market and shift factor impacts, as well as co-authoring the zonal ERCOT Commercial Market Definition Process and trained ERCOT staff on its initial implementation. Co-authored the nodal ERCOT Element Competitive Index/Competitive Constraint Test, prior to Real Time market changes.In generation operations, held positions such as a natural gas Plant Engineer and interim Plant Manager at Holly Power Plant for Austin Energy (AE). While in the Transmission and Distribution sector, performed power flow studies relative to the Corpus Christi area transmission system serving as a transmission Planning Engineer. Performed substation design and project engineering which encompassed start to finish design through tracking completion of electrical substations , including the requisitioning of materials, project planning and management. Began utility career as a distribution design engineer responsible for design of overhead and underground distribution facilities, including material requisitions.
