Ever since I was young, blending creativity with technology has been my passion. I remember taking apart a few cassette decks I had and tinkering with them, wiring them together to create my own mixing board. I started recorded different sounds, some in the environment and some using my own vocals, and “mixed” them together with sample beats taken from my favorite songs that were often recorded from the weekend countdown programs on the radio. I didn’t realize it at the time, but I was creating my own beats and music tracks, blending together different genres and sounds. Next, I started recording my own vocals and placing them on the tracks. This was my earliest (and best?) attempts at karaoke! I developed my talent and audio engineering and editing skills and started producing and recording my own full 60-90 minute programs, complete with self-produced voice-overs and commercials, mixed music and talk radio segments. I passed the tapes out to friends and family and they became an instant hit. That passion took me through broadcasting school and into writing for local radio stations and performing voice-over work. But I wanted to learn and do more so I pursued a degree in Media Production and Criticism at George Mason University. My first time behind a video camera was in a production class and I was HOOKED! I took to it quickly realizing that all the fun things I had been doing with audio could also be done with video …and much more! While in school, I worked as a Production Assistant at the campus TV station and got an education in program production and managing studio equipment. I studied new theories in mass communication, visual production, and interpersonal communication. As a graduate teaching assistant, I taught a video production workshop and courses in public speaking and small group communication. I soaked it all up like a sponge and realized how much I enjoy learning new things and teaching others. So, here I am today. I’m still blending creativity with technology by teaching courses in media production, interpersonal theory and applied skills to generations of up and coming professionals, and continuing my work in media production as a freelancer, producing videos and live meetings and events designed to educate diverse audiences. If you’re passionate about what you do, love to learn or want to get your message out to others, connect with me and lets start a conversation!
