About Lance King Afsm

As Latrobe City's Manager Emergency Management and previous Chair of the Municipal Emergency Management Enhancement Group (MEMEG) I have undertaken a wide range of activities which aim to improve the capacity of emergency management in local government. i have previously worked for MAV who were very pleased with my performance and believed that I had contributed strongly to improvements in the emergency management awareness and capability of councils. Whilst at MAV and currently at Latrobe City I support council emergency management across a range of areas. In particular, I had participated in the following reviews and committees:• Part 6 of EMMV review • Multi-Agency Emergency Training and Exercising in Victoria • Victorian Flood Strategy Review and Flood Management Planning Framework project • Community Emergency Risk Management Review• Attended the State Emergency Mitigation Committee priorities meeting and Emergency Risk Assessment workshop• Attended two day DHS Emergency Management workshop • MAV Capability Building project teamMAV representative on Integrated Fire Management Planning (IFMP) "Plan Format & Life Cycle" ProjectIn addition, the I had facilitated consultation through:• The MEMP audit review and pilot • The IFMP regional workshops/Fire Management Planning • MEMEG Recovery Forum at Melton• Drafting Municipal Recovery Planning guidelines • Influenza Pandemic Planning • MECC equipment funding • Rapid Impact Assessment Pilot • Flood Smart/Storm Smart• Cultural and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Emergency Management requirements.I have also been instrumental in driving a number of initiatives, such as the Local Government Capacity/Capability Survey, the initiation of Regional MEMEG forums and increasing the number of councils signing up to the Inter-council Resource Sharing Protocol.I have also supported Regional Emergency Management Planning as Commitee member and Chairperson
