As Partner and part owner of SWT Design, I am excited to further establish our studio's presence in KC and a stronger leadership role for the firm. Our focus on regional public realm projects and private institutions and clients continues to grow through Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, and South Dakota.

As the Studio Manager for SWT Design's Kansas City office. Lance brings with him 24 years of Landscape Architecture and Urban Design experience including design and connectivity of parks, corridors, and nodes that transform communities. He’s passionate about the public realm and the critical role it plays in elevating our everyday lives. As a resident of Kansas City his familiarity with the region combined with his background will further deepen SWT Design’s roots in the region. His project experience in Kansas City with a previous firm include the Berkley Riverfront Master Plan and Streetscape, Karnes Playground at Roanoke Park, Paseo Streetscape at Marlborough Village, West Bottoms Streetscape and Wayfinding Plan, and the Hardesty Renaissance Urban Redevelopment Plan. Beyond Kansas City Lance worked as project landscape architect/urban designer with Studio Daniel Libeskind on the Denver Art Museum and the World Trade Center Master Plan/Open Space Guidelines in New York and the University of Colorado Boulder Wolfe Law School, Steamboat Spring Healthcare Campus, and University of Denver Nelson Residence Hall with Davis Partnership Architects.

As a professional landscape architect, I keep the positive experiences of park visitors foremost when collaborating on design of its built improvements. I first became involved with the Conservancy through my work on the Karnes Play Experience and was elected to the board in 2015. I live nearby in Coleman Highlands with my spouse and daughter also enjoy the unique beauty of this place.

This position combined previous design-make efforts and professional practice experience. Here I worked on all phases from conceptual design through construction documentation, bidding, and project management. Selected projects included On-Call Services for PortKC, Hardesty Renaissance Urban Redevelopment Plan, Marlborough Village Streetscape, and McKinley Park Green Infrastructure Project in Pittsburgh, PA.

Overseeing laboratory facilities for fabrication and building assemblies for the College of Architecture, Planning & Design. This role includes training students and faculty on best practices for lasers, CNC router, metal working, and woodworking equipment. I collaborated with students and faculty on making models and full-scale assemblies. In addition I worked with the Dean's office and Facilities Planning to renovate studios, classrooms, exhibit spaces, and offices for APDesign.

Working with clients and designers to develop spaces and objects both inside and outside the building.

I worked in various teaching positions in Landscape Architecture and Architecture. This including Enviornmental Design Studios 1 and 2 and co-teaching Landscape Architecture Construction 1, 2, and 3 and a study abroad semester in Orvieto, Italy.

Here I worked in Studio Daniel Libeskind's newly established New York office as the in-house landscape architect refining the Master Plan for the World Trade Center and co-authoring design guidelines for the sites public open spaces and streetscape.

I served as Project Landscape Architect on various project types collaborating with in-house and consultanting Architects. Notable projects include the Denver Art Museum, Wolfe School of Law at CU Boulder, and Yampa Valley Healthcare Complex.
