My primary role was analyzing the magnetic properties of rare-earth-based systems. I accomplished this by taking measurements of the sample's heat capacity as a function of temperature and measurements of the sample's magnetic moment as a function of temperature under various fixed external magnetic fields. All measurements were taken using single-crystal samples in Quantum Desisgn's Physical Property Management System (PPMS).These measurements allowed for the analysis of critical properties such as the Neel temperature, the Curie temperature, the effective magnetic moment, Debye and Einstein contributions to specific heat, and more to understand the low-temperature properties of the system better. The Debye and Einstein contributions were calculated using Python in Visual Studio Code, while the rest were primarily calculated using OriginPro.In addition to data analysis, I compiled a comprehensive research report and created a poster presentation to communicate my findings. My laboratory work also included sample preparation and enhancing laboratory operations.
