About Lance Ortiz, Pmp

I am a project manager/program manager with a background in the enterprise server business focused on Linux and UNIX enablement of new server platforms. I am known for building strong trusting relationships with partners and vendors as well as leading engineering teams to obtain their goals and deliver products. I am passionate about enabling teams to succeed by improving processes, providing training and bringing the correct people together to solve problems and deliver results. As a program manager I have built strong trusting relationships with major OS vendors, exchanging resources from both companies to develop features and fixing issues that improve both companies products and customer experiences. I have led a number of development teams working to enable the Linux operating system to support cutting edge server features. Managing these teams included identifying requirements, creating work breakdown structures and working with the team to assign and complete tasks. Also included creating risk mitigation plans and tracking issues and changes as the project moved forward. Then closing out the projects with quality deliverables on schedule. All this while adjusting to changes in schedules and resources and keeping a keen eye on customer needs.I have also organized and conducted training for engineering teams, defined and documented internal processes and written and published customer facing technical documents and web pages.As a developer I had experience with the C programming language, debugging in the kernel and user space, designing software features for large systems in hardware dependent code and graphics drivers.
