Aircrew Instructor and Tactics Leading Petty Officer Assistant to the squadron Master Chief Petty Officer, responsible for instructing required aircrewman classes and supervising personnel within the tactics department.Fleet Replacement Aircrew school trains new helicopter naval aircrewmen in the basic everyday flight procedures and responsibilities ensuring new recruits are ready for fleet deployment, around the world. Instructed 138 new Fleet Replacement Aircrewmen in safe and fundamental helicopter operations resulting in a 98% graduation rate. Scheduled 32 Helicopter gun evolutions with the various approved ranges throughout the Virginia operating area, resulting in 22 new and re-qualified MH-60S Aerial Gunners. Provided subject matter expertise on Search and Rescue, Helicopter recovery tactics, organizational performance, performed quality improvement evaluations, reviewed processes and procedures, and recommended improvements resulting in increased life saving operations.  Implemented new equipment, training, and methodology to increase combat effectiveness and safety of forward deployed personnel.

I spent my first 10 years in the Navy as H-46/H-3 Helicopter Search and Rescue Air-crewman, I also worked as a Airframe mechanic and Survival Equipment technician. The latter half of my career I was converted into the AW rating where I transitioned to the MH-60S Knight hawk helicopter, performing inland Search and Rescue for the Washington state area and then to a tactical command specializing more in the fields of weapons and tactical procedures.

Leading Petty Officer, Aircrew DivisionAssistant to the Aircrew division Chief Petty Officer ensuring day to day duties of all personnel are conducted efficiently and professionally.Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron Nine's primary mission is to employ the versatility of the MH-60S helicopter to support the battle group commander's objectives, with emphasis on Anti Surface Warfare, Combat Search and Rescue, Support of Special Operations, and Vertical Replenishment. Secondary missions include Anti-ship missile defense and Medical Evacuation. Participated as a helicopter crewman in the filming of "CAPTAIN PHILLIPS" starring Tom Hanks. Led 35 Naval Aircrewmen in the daily management, planning and implementation of all ground and flight related duties in support of worldwide combat operations. Managed 15 Aircrewmen on a short notice SAR detachment aboard the USS San Antonio in response to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts, resulting in the execution of 86 military personnel transports, 2 Medevac’s and the delivery of 1340 lbs. of emergency supplies to the NY/NJ areas.  Flew 1280 hours in the MH-60S, providing Combat Search and Rescue support aboard the USS George H.W Bush (CVN-77)  Supervised and facilitated training that directly led to the completion of 19 Tactical Aircrewmen upgrades, 12 Door Gunners , 4 aerial door gun instructors, 4 Naval Air Warfare Specialist qualifications, and 3 Utility Aircrewmen resulting in an increase in the squadrons readiness by 23%. Re-qualified as Aviation Life Support equipment technician, servicing and inspecting flight equipment for all 286 squadron personnel, reducing the shops workload by 37%.

Kabul, Afghanistan

Responsible for planning special operations throughout the USCENTCOM area of responsibility, planning and conducting peacetime joint/combined special operations training exercises for the Afghanistan area. Drove 328 Convoy operations in the Kabul area, transporting high ranking officials and supplies. Acted as a personal security detail for various high ranking personnel. Directed and coordinated all convoy operations for the New Kabul Compound, within the Kabul Afghanistan area.  Instructed 56 new incoming personnel on proper driving tactics and IED detection procedures.  Maintained 16 armored vehicles and their associated radio frequency jamming equipment.  Managed five local afghan employees and their contracts, facilitating a $316,000 thousand dollar contract renewal and employee guidance within the compound.

Whidbey Island, Wa

Leading Petty Officer, Aircrew Division/Life Support EquipmentAssistant to the Aircrew and Paraloft division Chief Petty Officer ensuring day to day duties of all personnel are conducted efficiently and professionally. Provided Search and Rescue support for the Pacific Northwest, operating under the control of the Northwest regional United States Coast Guard Supervised a unit of 16 Naval Aircrewmen, that provided inland and overwater Search and Rescue support for several Washington counties.  Performed a two day rescue of 36 Flood victims, from designated area, resulting in recognition from Seattle’s mayor and several military awards. Developed Night Vision Device rescue procedures for night rappelling operations. Performed 18 Medical Evacuations, 25 Overland Hoist/Rappel rescues and several search missions. Every SAR mission resulted in a 100% recovery rate.

Agana, Guam

HSC-25 is part of Andersen Air Force Base and is the Navy’s only squadron that maintains a 24-hour search and rescue and medical evacuation alert posture, directly supporting the U.S. Coast Guard, Sector Guam and Joint Region Marianas. Since 1984, HSC-25 has launched 1079 SAR missions saving 412 lives. Supervised 23 Aviation life support equipment technicians in the completion of flight gear and equipment maintenance for the squadron’s 132 flight personnel.  Performed 18 medical evacuations, four overland rescues and one aerial firefighting mission . Assisted in the aircraft transition from the CH-46D to the new MH-60S.

Key West, Florida

Provided Search and Rescue support for the Florida keys. Performed 3 overwater rescues, saving 5 civilan personnel from water related accidents.Airframe and Powerplant Collateral Duty Inspector on the UH-3H Helicopter.Quality Assurance Supervisor, managed eight Quality Assurance personnel in the day to day maintenance responsibilities of the squadron.Performed daily maintenance on the UH-3H Sea King helicopter.
