International Medical malpractice Claims Assessor for a Lloyds Underwriting Syndicate. Assessing insurance claims on the Lloyds market, dealing with Medical malpractice claims predominantly in, but not limited to, Holland, Israel, Qatar, Dubai, Singapore, The Caribbean, Argentina, Chile and the UK; where the majority of the work involves cosmetic claims. My role consists in dealing with the claim from notification to closure, assessing policy and legal liability, complying with the pre action protocols in the UK and legislation in other territories, setting and assessing reserves in accordance with the company reserving strategy as well as checking and approving indemnity and cost payments and setting a strategy for the successful management of the claim, primarily by liaising with the Brokers and panel solicitors.

Dealing with insurance claims on the Lloyds market; Professional indemnity, Lawyers, Architects, Engineers, Medical malpractice, Public Entities and officials as well as Open Market placements. Liaise with Italian Loss Adjusting companies, predominantly through emails and telephone calls, processing claim reports, and bordereaux to the Underwriters. Processing payments and arranging for appropriate reserves, set by Loss Adjusters, to be held by the Underwriters through Xchanging services. Working with vast amounts of data and statistics as well as formatting and creating new sets of statistics to requirement. Legal translations and non, from English to Italian and Italian to English. I have also trained, with another colleague, a new employee in my team and I felt that my communication skills greatly helped in the teaching. Furthermore, working in a challenging environment such as insurance has made me fast and efficient at resolving sometimes very delicate issues as well as being proficient at meeting deadlines.

Dealing with administrative work in the claims department. My tasks included processing payments, drafting letters, assisting the claims underwriters with miscellaneous tasks including; photocopying, faxing, filing and answering client’s phone calls. Working with Microsoft Word and Excel on a daily basis. Reading the property and liability files to better understand the cases and the business.

Carried out translation work from Italian to English and English to Italian. Organised the filing system. Scanned and entered data on all files to assist in creating a paperless office.
