My work involved transitioning from operational to strategic IT, with a focus on the corporate governance of ICT's to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and long-term sustainability.As a strategic advisor to the Provincial Cabinet and Provincial Top Management, I was responsible for overseeing the overall ICT function of the WCG, which included 13 departments and 80,000 employees. I led the promotion of the Digital Government agenda, leveraging ICTs as a key enabler to improve service delivery and stimulate economic development.In terms of budget and resource management, I oversaw the Centre for e-Innovation, which had a budget of over R900m, a staff complement of over 400, supported over 28,500 workstations in 400 locations, and over 360 applications.My key successes included:Conceptualizing, planning, and implementing the IT Services Modernization Blueprint, which was key to modernizing ICTs in the province. As a result, ICTs are now seen as a strategic enabler for the WCG, leading to improved service delivery and audit outcomes.Executing the Broadband implementation throughout the Western Cape, which had a budget of over R3.8bn and was a game-changer for the WCG.Playing a pivotal role in the e-Learning, e-Health, and Data Governance strategic projects.Driving the WCG Cloud Adoption Strategy.
