I am a tooling Engineer who has been involved in the plastics tools and moulding industries for over 10 years. Throughout my career, I have held various positions related to Tooling Engineering, the responsibilities I fulfilled are outlined below.◆Project following, tracking various types of product start from DFM to mass production, communicate with clients to close all the issues during project proceed, including product modification, machining, fixture, measurement, and package.◆Tool Design, feasibility analysis of products, confirm tool construction, layout and gate type…, build 3D model and 2D components drawing for machining.◆Tool testing and moulding, set with different parameter to check if possible to improve injection condition.◆Tool make, operate various of machine, suck like lathe, mill, EDM, wire cuter, but most important is assembly tool and fitting.Throughout my career, I have become proficient in using the following software: Microsoft Office, Pro-Engineer, AutoCAD, NX(UG).

Following is something I have got as a project engineer for 7 years.◆ Project engineer should clear up all the mould data immediately once got the information from sales department. incl. 2D part drawing, 3D data, injection machine data etc.◆ Email these information to design department after translate, project engineer should familiar client requirement and mould standards at the same time.◆ DFM should show very clear and simple, DFM should cover all the information such as steel, shrink, parting line, etc.◆ We send the 2D and 3D assembly drawing after DFM confirmed. We start to machining after client release.◆ During the manufactory we need send the mould progress once a week, the report should show the clearly pictures.◆ Project engineer must check if the plastic raw material is enough before trial◆ After trial, dispatch sample. We always met the hard problem is the sample has a lot of flashes, and our client urge the sample very harry, so, we don’t know we can dispatch it or not, at his time, project engineer should standing clients’situation of view, if really don’t know dispatch or not, we can send email for ask clients, but it will be send with cutting flashes as normal, then send email to client tell the situation about all the part issues with clear pictures, had better send inspection report also, sometimes also tell the finish time if necessary. But if we miss ribs or other characteristic can real make we crazy, so, we must check the mould before make trial.◆ There are some problems after T1 more or less, such as warpage, air trap, shrink, we need to improve it asap.◆ Finally we going to dispatch the mold, we should have a meeting to know the notice place if it’s necessary, telling the spare parts number, child parts number, the print color of cover mold, the way to package the mold dispatch data etc.◆ We must deal with the problems has been happened in abroad once we got the email from clients.

Analyzing the part issues and send DFM to clients before the mould stat. Making and updating the mould progress time line according to the T1 which is offer by customer. Deal with all the mistake during the mould making. Arranging the mould trial, sending sample to client, Arranging the mold dispatch.

1. Familiar with clients’part requirement and mould standards is must before design the mold.2. Making the DFM. Such as part issues, draft angle, gate position, ejection, parting line, etc. 3. Design 2D mould assembling drawing according to clients’ requirements, and send it to clients for confirmation.4. Design mould 3D after the 2D mould assembling drawing has been confirmed.5. Designer should doing this after the mould drawing confirmed：order the steel for Cav & Cor, order mould base, print the cavity and core drawing, order others parts and components, then print others drawing, finally check the order list if there is something miss and order standards parts.6. Print mould modify data.7. Prepare for shipment data.
