As an adjunct faculty for undergraduate leadership program, I teach a course titled “Personal Leadership in the University” which introduces leadership using a personal leadership perspective and framework. Students examine their own views on leadership, examine aspects of identity and difference, learn about the differences between personal and positional leadership, and begin to explore concepts and skills relating to effective leadership and positive change. I teach this course online via Moodle as well as take advantage of a variety of University and outside technologies to enable group collaboration and digital leadership.

As Director of Video Solutions, I worked closely with the UMN CIO, Deputy CIO, and Senior Director of Networking and Telecom Services to create a new strategy for enterprise video services including video and web conferencing, video production, streaming video systems, IPTV and more. As part of this initiative, I managed a team of fourteen full-time staff, and 15+ part-time student employees for the design, implementation, ongoing support, and continuous improvement of video services and initiatives. • ITIL Foundations Certification (2009) • Successful completion of the IT Leadership Program from MOR Associates. • Designed a complete higher education video conferencing infrastructure including Cisco/Tandberg infrastructure including TMS, VCS, TCS, MSE 8000 chassis and blades currently being implemented • Created new standards for high-definition video conferencing classrooms and meeting rooms based on Cisco C20 and C40 codecs and Movi for mobile devices and desktops. • Expanded custom media management system from 2,000 users to over 10,000 content providing users delivering over 500,000 media assets to end-users per month. • Implementation of Milestone Corporate IP Camera management and recording system. • Implementation of campus-wide satellite-fiber-coax and IPTV TV distribution system supporting 120+ channels.

At the Digital Media Center, I had a broad range of responsibilities that are broken up into three main categories:* UMConnect Project Co-LeadI am a co-lead for the UMConnect project that supports and administers the UMConnect server. UMConnect offers the entire University access to tools for creating online multimedia presentations and for creating and participating in web conferences.* DMC Hardware and Software Support LeadI make sure the needs of the DMC are being met in the area of hardware and software, in that all DMC computers and equipment are working properly and efficiently, as well as recommend upgrades and purchases when necessary.* Digital Video Consultations/TrainingI help faculty members develop effective uses of digital video in their courses through various formats and delivery methods. I also help advise and/or train staff and faculty members in using digital video software such as iMovie, Premiere, Vegas Video, Final Cut Pro, and others.
