About Lance Hancock
The 2021-22 season will mark the fifth season that I have been the head coach of the Point Loma women's golf team. In 2021, I was named PacWest Conference Coach of the Year. Under my time at PLNU, the Sea Lions have rewrote the record books. We've set the team record for lowest two-round score, lowest individual round (-4), sent our first individual to the NCAA Super Regional Tournament and, now, have won our first Conference Championship, 2021. The Sea Lions have also seen success in the classroom during this time. In 2019-20, PLNU posted a 3.586 cumulative team grade point average and five of the six student-athletes earned PacWest All-Academic honors. Before coming to Point Loma, I was with one of the largest OEM's in golf. I have worked with professional athletes both on the PGA and LPGA Tours, including PGA Hall of Fame members Arnold Palmer and Gary Player, PGA Tour professionals Phil Mickelson and Ernie Els as well as LPGA professionals Annika Sorenstam and Morgan Pressel. What attracted me most to this opportunity at PLNU was the university's commitment to provide students with a balance of challenging academics, deep spirituality, and a service-centered action. I’m thrilled to continue to be a part of this stance to prepare these student athletes for purpose-filled lives while lending any insight I can from my experiences in professional golf.
