I'm a licensed architect with 27 years experience. I'm a generalist. I've worked on everything from designing a conference table to urban planning a neighborhood in Dubai. My creative process is problem-solving. At heart, I'm a storyteller. Design happens to be the medium in which I tell stories. The stories are about the client and their worldview. I tell stories about the balance between the universal and the personal, the timeless and the specific, the global and the local, society and the individual. I approach design as a humanist. I focus on the experience of the individual people who interact with and inhabit spaces. Through choice of form, scale, shelter, texture, materials, color, connection to nature and quality of light a generic space becomes a specific place. It communicates. It cues feelings. It supports activities. It provides the backdrop for each person's day in that place. My work isn't cookie-cutter or one-size-fits-all. My portfolio doesn't have a signature look, however each project shares a depth of feeling and craft. Each project is tailored to the client. I bring both experience and fresh eyes to my work. The stories aren't my stories, they're our stories that we discover together along the way.
