Focused on all things HR, recruiting and talent management technology for more than a decade. Started off on my own blog (then called anonymously YourHRGuy.com before eventually transitioning to LanceHaun.com). I joined TSC in 2013 to help in the firm's content development and thought leadership initiatives and helped launch The Starr Conspiracy Intelligence Unit in 2014. Previously, I was brought on at ERE Media in February 2010, first as community director, then helped launch our first HR publication TLNT.com. Two years later, I took over SourceCon.com as editor-in-chief and I program both SourceCon and the Recruiting Innovation Summit. My focus was on delivering pertinent news and insight to business professionals who value talent above all else. I was also a contract writer for career information portal Vault.com starting in 2007 and did that for two and a half years. Before that, I was an HR manager, generalist, and recruiter for seven years. I hired, I fired, I did performance improvement plans, I counseled managers and employees and learned business the hard way through some really unique experiences.I also launched (and sold) the first blog and social network for human resource professionals before most people in HR even knew what a social network was.Specialties: Writing, editing, managing contributors, programming conferences, community management, human resources and recruiting, talent management

Managing EditorLancehaun.Com May 2006 - PresentStarted in May of 2006, YourHRGuy.com was one of the first HR blogs (I believe there were four of them). If you ever wonder why my name makes some industry list, it is mainly because of the early success of this blog. I have since transitioned the blog to LanceHaun.com where I occasionally touch on trends and industry details that don't always fit in with my beat at ERE.

Practice LeaderTsc | Previously The Starr Conspiracy Apr 2013 - Mar 2018Fort Worth, Texas, UsAs a practice leader, I helped enterprise software and services companies find their compelling place in their respective markets, consulted with them on messaging and go-to-market strategy, and helped them execute their game plan with compelling thought leadership and content strategy.I also worked on public-facing market research and reports that specifically target the HCM industry. -

Community Director & Contributing EditorEre Media, Inc Feb 2010 - Feb 2012New York, Ny, UsNot many people are proud to work themselves out of a job but phasing out the ERE social networking community was the right move. It has enabled more resources and attention devoted into the things that our community really loves: our news and events. I helped launch TLNT.com with John Hollon in June 2010 as contributing editor. I remember logging into TLNT with a terrifying 0 posts published and no hits in our Google Analytics account. I can't take a ton of credit for the success of it but it was a big learning experience working for a publication that was launching from having no audience to building a legitimate presence. -
Senior AdvisorMeritbuilder Aug 2009 - Jan 2011UsConceptually shaped a SaaS employee rewards and recognition platform for small/mid market. Spoke, wrote and gained placement on critical, focused outlets in the human resources market. Presented and demoed software to potential clients, partners and members of the media. While there are companies still using MeritBuilder, we had to shutter building the product. Still forever grateful for the opportunity to wake up eternally terrified, tired, excited and thinking about how we fit in to the greater HCM space. -
Writer (Contract)Vault.Com Jun 2007 - Dec 2009I wrote a thrice-weekly blog/column on career advice from a seasoned recruiter and HR guy. I took questions from community members and helped some of them get jobs, even as the economy was sliding. Maybe more importantly, this was the first time I had been paid just to write for someone. It was great, though like a lot of my early writing, I cringe at some of it.

Human Resources GeneralistColumbia Helicopters Mar 2008 - Jul 2009Aurora, Oregon, UsHuman Resources Generalist covering all areas of HR administration for 700+ person company. Worked on policies and procedures, employee relations, light recruiting, analytical work as well as backing up specialists in the HR department.Learned a lot of unconventional lessons here about working in HR. That's not a knock on the work there but the unique challenges there were often above my ability and the need to stretch and learn on the fly was essential. -
Human Resources ManagerQualitysmith, Inc. Apr 2005 - Feb 2008Human Resources generalist, specialized recruiter, benefits administration, training/dev and a smattering of other projects. During my time as HR Manager, the company grew from 35 employees to 175 at its peak. I was incredibly lucky to be there at the time. A perfect opportunity that really got my career in HR launched and still helps fire me up about talent opportunities and issues that happen in every organization.

Assistant ManagerWalgreens May 2004 - Apr 2005Deerfield, Il, UsManage employees, floor and pharmacy inventories and sales for a multi-million dollar business. Specialized in training, technical tasks and employee relations. At the time, Walgreens acquired a chain of local pharmacies and I was part of a team that transitioned one of those stores into a full-fledged Walgreens. While it came with the typical difficulties of retail work, they gave me my first opportunity to hire, develop and train employees post-college. -
Administrative ManagerWashington State University (Scs) Jan 2002 - May 2004Manage the administrative side of a student run, university owned student computer labs including student account billing, human resources, marketing, purchasing and maintaining lab inventories. We hired 20-30 students every semester to staff six computer labs and support staff. Effectively an in-house internship with great touches on accounting, human resources and operations.
