While living in Spain, I interned at a Craft beer bar in a market in Madrid. There I entertained patrons in Spanish, poured drinks, made sandwiches and popularized their Happy Hour.

As an intern at the State Attorney’s office, I was matched with a lead prosecutor in the Gang Task Force. During this internship, I was exposed to the inner workings of the legal system in a very hands-on manner. Every morning was spent in court, either rescheduling appearances or litigating motions. In the afternoons, I was able to help out in a more tangible sense. Typically, I would comb through prison calls to find evidence to submit for bond hearings or trials, or if there were strategy meetings scheduled I’d be able to attend and participate in those. During my short tenure there, I attended an Arthur hearing that went on for over eight hours as well as the strategy meetings before and after. Working at the State Attorney’s Office also taught me a lot about how to work on a team, as the prosecutors in the Gang Unit are consistently working on each other’s cases and talking through legal concerns together.

I participated in an Army Education Outreach Program Internship at the University of Miami. During this ten-week program, I worked in a Chemistry lab under Professor Braunschweig, helping him research the photovoltaic effects of a compound he had constructed in an effort to make a light and wearable solar cell. At the end of my time there I had earned the position of third author on a paper that was published in the Journal of Physical Organic Chemistry titled "Diketopyrrolopyrrole Assembly into J-aggregates".
