In its most advanced state, it provides new avenues of discovery.Information Technology ("IT") departments are service providers of technology. In its most fundamental state, IT provides the roads and methods for efficiency in every day job functions. In its most advanced state, IT marries technology with the imagination of the stakeholder to produce innovative solutions.While most people may believe computer technologists are in this field for the sake of the technology itself, I find greater personal satisfaction when imagination and technology come together. In my career, I have been privileged to participate in true technology innovations in the oil field, the surgical suite, and the classroom. I prefer to admire the completed home rather than the hammer that was used to build it.While I enjoy technology, it is not my life. On a personal level, I am a Christian husband and father of two grown children. I enjoy sports, particularly football and baseball. I try to exercise regularly, when “life” doesn’t get in the way. I am a P90X graduate and have completed a marathon, although no records were ever in any danger. I like to travel when I can; I am a weekend woodworker when time permits. I have watched every movie on the American Film Institute’s Top 100 Movies (2007 list), and I do have a differing opinion on many of their selections. Novels by Tom Clancy, Daniel Silva, Joel Rosenberg, or John Grisham will cause me to stay up way later than I should.
