Water Stewardship AdviserWestern Port Biosphere Apr 2015 - PresentHastings, VictoriaBuilding a water stewardship community in Western Port, AustraliaOur project, being led by Western Port Biosphere in collaboration with Water Stewardship Australia, Ingham Enterprises, and a group of regional stakeholders* is aiming to build collaboration between major water users, the community, water agencies, local government and other stakeholders around the framework of the International Water Stewardship Standard. We are working with landholders, businesses and organisations across several catchments of the Biosphere to develop Site Water Stewardship Plans to address their specific site risks and protect site and catchment values. Funding from Helen Macpherson Smith Trust and our partners has enabled this work and we now have a chicken processor, horticulture farms, plant nurseries, livestock producers, grazing properties, horse breeders/agistment properties, schools, camp site, wetland reserves, golf courses, animal sanctuaries, vineyard, and a steel maker involved. We have also learned valuable lessons about the water stewardship process and its value in water, stream and catchment management.
