Anita Van Asperdt is the owner and principal landscape architect at LandCurrent and a business development team member at Moonshadow Mobile Inc. LandCurrent provides landscape architectural and sustainable design consulting services for projects of various scales including, sustainable and affordable housing projects, co-housing projects, eco-districts, public parks, institutional and commercial developments, natural playgrounds and garden design. LandCurrent seeks to combine conceptual strength with a deep understanding of sustainable principles. Founded in 2001 as A. Van Asperdt p.c., the company is doing business as LandCurrent. At Moonshadow, Anita works on business development for smart city technologies. Moonshadow’s DB4IoT is a time-series geospatial database engine and interactive analytics platform purpose-built for transportation analysis. In today’s environment, the problem isn’t a lack of access to data, it’s turning the vast amounts of available data into useful information that helps planners and agencies make informed decisions. DB4IoT conquers the challenges of combining the data from many sources and packaging it into easy-to-use interactive data analytics and visualizations. Questions can be answered in seconds or minutes. DB4IoT represents the future of transportation data analytics.Anita has lectured and been an invited speaker on a range of topics related to landscape architecture and sustainable urban design. Subjects include: natural playgrounds, waterwise garden design, complete neighborhood design, sustainable cities and eco-districts. Anita is available for lectures, workshops and community outreach meetings on these topics.Through the University of British Columbia, Anita has organized and taught an urban design studio in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Through the University of Oregon, Anita taught a course on eco-districts in Europe. She is interested in offering similar courses through other institutions.
