I lead a team of 32 full-time professionals to recruit undergraduate students and engage with the local communities served by UNT Admissions. Our priority is to increase enrollment at the university and be a resource for students and families seeking to understand the higher education process. My duties require me to collaborate effectively with partners internally and externally at the institution. I also am responsible for advocating for my staff to ensure tools such as our Customer Relationships Management System is operating effectively and supporting our efforts to help students achieve their goals and dreams in higher education.In 2022, I was tasked with ultimately streamlining first-year students, transfer recruitment, and outreach programs into one team. Within that time frame, our team has increased engagement with students interested in pursuing their education at UNT or seeking guidance on how the college process works by 20 percent. I was also a crucial part of efforts to restructure the Admissions Office of 70 full-time employees. I led efforts to promote front-line personnel to positions that allowed Admissions Recruiters to supervise student employees that support outreach efforts. In addition to my broad duties within the Admissions Structure, I have continued to oversee the Office of Outreach by delegating tasks to individuals I supervise.In 2023, our team broke our new freshmen enrollment goal for the third time in four years. We enrolled more than 7,000 freshmen, with an increasingly diverse student class.

As the Director of the University of North Texas Office of Outreach, I was responsible for developing and overseeing programs to promote a college-going culture for underrepresented student populations at each phase of the P-20 level. Outreach hosted elementary and middle school-aged children's events to introduce the concept of higher education at a young age. Our student employees, G-Force Mentors, assisted students in high school and peers at UNT in completing the enrollment process's critical functions, such as financial aid and admissions applications. I also worked closely with the Institutional Equity, Diversity, and Access (IDEA) to create strategic initiatives to recruit and retain students of color and other populations that face barriers to accessing higher education. Such efforts also included collaborating with campus and community partners to develop and maintain culturally relevant and intentional outreach initiatives that aligned with UNT's goal to achieve the status of a Hispanic Serving institution, which was accomplished in 2020.

As the Assistant Director for the UNT Office of Outreach, my primary responsibility was supervising 40 G-Force Student Mentors, one graduate assistant, and one full-time employee. I also worked to develop strategic alliances within schools to manage GO Centers and spaces on campuses that helped students navigate the higher education process by using a near-to-peer mentoring model with G-Force.Mentors helped high school and college students with navigating the higher education system. Primary services offered by the G-Force Mentors area assist with applying to college, submitting financial aid applications, and helping students explore different post-secondary options.

While employed within the UNT Dean of Students, I assisted students experiencing crises outside the classroom. I connected students to resources that could help them stay enrolled, such as collaborating with financial aid if funding was an obstacle. I also coordinated the expansion of the Student Food Pantry to our regional Discovery Park Campus and the expansion within the Student Union.As the DOS Coordinator, I collaborated with peers within student conduct or the survivor advocate. During this career, I greatly expanded my knowledge and perspectives in higher education.

I oversaw recruitment for FTIC and transfer students for the UNT College of Engineering. I reported on enrollment trends for the Dean and Department Chairs to ensure efforts aligned with the mission and vision. In addition to advising future students, I managed 13 College of Engineering Ambassadors. These student employees provided tours of the college class spaces within the UNT Discovery Park Campus for prospective students. I also planned and coordinated the College of Engineering Preview Day, attended by approximately 150 guests, including students, their families, faculty, and staff. Utilizing strategic planning, creativity, and critical thinking, I led efforts to recruit more than 70 students within six months between approval and the first classes of the Biomedical Engineering Degree in 2014.

As a College of Information Student Services Coordinator, I collaborated with faculty to recruit online graduate cohort programs and non-traditional undergraduate students. I also worked to support the needs of current students while assisting with customer service-oriented tasks within the Academic Advising Office.In 2012, I worked with the Department of Learning Technologies faculty to develop a strategic marketing and recruitment plan for the first UNT accelerated online master's and fully online doctorate. Our efforts led to achieving first-term goals for both programs within the first academic year of launch and a 160% increase in graduate student enrollment.
