Thomas Landreth is a Senior Data Scientist at Deloitte at Deloitte. He possess expertise in community outreach, editing, social media, research, program development and 21 more skills. Colleagues describe him as "To Whom It May Concern This letter is to recommend Thomas Landreth who volunteered in the office of the Triangle Institute for Security Studies (2010-11) and who, prior to that, was a TISS Wickersham Scholar. I hold him in high regard and think that he is very well suited to this particular position. First, let me say that it is a considerable honor to be nominated as a TISS Wickersham Scholar and attests to his interest in government as well as his intellectual capabilities. Second, let me say that Thomas has done an outstanding job for me over the past year. He has performed better than almost all of the students whom I have hired to work for me over the past ten years. The fact that he has done so cheerfully and without pay attests to his excellent attitude and his determination to pursue a meaningful career. Mr. Landreth has assisted me in a wide variety of ways, often working with only minimal supervision. He has helped prepare conference materials, provided material (including visual aids) for the TISS web-site, edited conference briefs, grant proposals, and conference transcripts, identified speakers for conferences, and compiled a data base of contacts for a TISS project. He also provided support at events and generally made himself available as needed for tasks great and small. Through this work he has demonstrated a number of crucial skills. He extremely meticulous: indeed after a few weeks working with him I no longer felt the need to double check his data as it was always correct. He is willing to follow instructions but also not afraid to offer suggestions if he can see a better way to solve a problem or approach an issue. He is an excellent writer with a clear and precise style and did a first rate job editing my work. He is courteous and articulate and these qualities ensured that he interacted well with the public. He is very comfortable with computers: he was familiar with a wide variety of programs on his arrival including Word and Excel and mastered new ones quickly as needed. I should add that I have been focusing my efforts over the last year on an Energy and Security Initiative at North Carolina State University, whose purpose is to foster communication among those in the science and technology fields and those in the humanities and social sciences. Several of the documents, therefore, that Mr. Landreth edited, had a technical component. In short, Mr. Landreth is a highly intelligent, competent, and dedicated young man. He is also very likeable. He is dependable and honest, refreshingly non acquisitive, and possessed of a quiet sense of humor. I think he would do an excellent job for you. Sincerely, Carolyn W. Pumphrey, Ph.D. TISS Coordinator Special Faculty, History, North Carolina State University" and "Thomas was an intern at the Alliance for Peacebuilding handling a wide range of tasks, including research and writing and organizing events. He was always attentive to details and commited to quality work. We very much appreciated his contribution to the organization and our mission."
