I would have just been starting my first year of Engineering at the University of Alberta, with no idea that I would fall in love my programming. Luckily, Computer Programming for Engineers introduced me to programming and I quickly changed programs to Computing Science. Best decision I've made as I've thoroughly enjoyed my program.While my specialization has allowed me to focus mainly on topics of computing science, preparing me for roles in software development and machine learning, I have also gained important skills in other areas. Motivated by Alberta's unique economy, I fulfilled my arts options by studying Energy Economics and Environmental Economics. Taking Operations Management courses has given me practical experience apply computing science topics towards a business environment, including: predictive business analytics and decision support systems.Although I am looking to change career path's with my recent graduation, I continue to act as a Greenskeeper and the Commonwealth and Highlands lawn bowling clubs. This recent role builds upon my three years of experience working as a Golf Course Labourer. This has been the perfect job as I studied at university as I enjoy the outdoors and appreciate the challenge of providing excellent greens for members to enjoy.
