Collectively owned by Guatemalan teachers, PLQ and its sister school, La Escuela de la Montaña, are two non-profit language schools in Quetzaltenango and Nuevo San José, Guatemala. PLQ has a long history of working in solidarity with human rights groups and social justice organizations in Guatemala, and aims to be a model for socially-responsible language instruction.

As a legal intern at Natural Justice, I worked with the Defending Rights team to oppose development projects that threaten the rights of indigenous and traditional communities. Drafted guidelines to aid communities in asserting their rights under South African and international law. Represented Natural Justice at community participation meetings and by submitting comments in response to proposed developments.

As a legal intern at ISHR, I drafted a petition to the relevant UN Working Group calling for the explicit mention of human rights defenders in the Convention on the Right to Development. Advocated for the rights of refugees and Black Americans at the 47th Human Rights Council. Provided support for strategic litigation work.

As a case manager at MK, I worked with an incredible team to provide a wide range of direct services to individuals experiencing homelessness. We also engaged in more in-depth case management to help clients achieve long-term goals such as obtaining medical and mental health services, finding employment, and securing permanent housing.

I graduated from Boston College with a B.A. in International Ethics and Social Justice and a Minor in Gender Studies. I was a member of the Arts and Sciences Honors Program for my entire tenure at B.C., and was awarded Deans List First Honors in 2016, 2018, 2019. I studied abroad at Universidad Carlos III, Madrid, Spain (Spring semester, 2018).

As a law clerk I worked with the Client Services staff and ALRP's panel of volunteer attorneys to facilitate solutions to ALRP clients' legal problems. Under the supervision of an ALRP staff attorney, I conducted client intake interviews, assisted clients with short-term legal assistance, engaged in research for eviction-defense litigation, and referred complex cases out to ALRP volunteer panel attorneys.

As the head of the high ropes department at Camp Waukeela I led a team of six counselors and had full responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of five high-ropes courses. I scheduled the use of the ropes courses by thirty campers from age 7-15 through the ropes courses six days per week. I also worked directly with the Camp Director to function as a link between staff and upper-level administration. This role required leadership, responsibility, and accountability, as well as strong team building skills.
