I am the Director of Education and Innovative Programs at Kate's Club, a non-profit that empowers children and teens and their families and young adults facing life after the death of a parent or sibling. or someone important to them. I work to ensure that the therapeutic part of the program adheres to best practices related to child bereavement. Kate's Club supports children and teens through social, recreational, and therapeutic programs. I started and previously headed KC Connects, our community outreach branch that brings grief support into the community through grief education, support groups, and crisis response. Currently, I train professionals working with grieving youth and as well as offer community education. I also head up our new initiatives as Kate's Club works to increase access to bereavement support for all children and young adults. These initiatives include our support of youth involved in the juvenile justice system. I serve on the Education Committee for the National Alliance for Children's Grief and on the American Cancer Society editorial board. I am co-author of "We Come Together as One: Helping Families Grieve, Share, and Heal the Kate's Club Way". I am passionate about helping children and their families face grief together.
