Currently working for Vitalant, a leader in blood donation services, as Lab Supervisor. I am responsible for processing whole blood, aphaeresis red cells & plasma, and platelets. In addition, I perform antigen testing on donor units to determine a match for patients in need. I have experience with the Sysmex, BacT Alert, ADAM, and TUBE method for antigen identification. Prior to my current work, for 2.5 years I worked as a Molecular Technologist at Memorial Hermann Southwest. Our focus was detecting and monitoring infectious disease through the use of molecular technology such as the Panther/Fusion, Illumipro, Cobas Ampliprep, Cobas TaqMan, Nanosphere Verigene, and Roche 4800 X and 480 Z. The addition of COVID-19 assays included the Hologic Panther assay, QiaStat, Abott ID Now, & Quidel Lyra SARS-CoV-2 assay on the Qiagen Rotorgene-Q.
