This is a multi-disciplinary role, in which I delivered data-backed insights for a diverse portfolio of economic initiatives. My projects span the execution of extensive one-on-one research interviews with 45 high value international stakeholders; through to segmentation and qualification of more than 19,000 potential offshore business-event opportunities; as well as production and analysis of critical economic impact reports. I have applied a rigorous and consistent ‘priority sector’ lens across all projects to ensure strategic alignment and economic impact. A key achievement was the successful project management, design and delivery of Auckland’s inaugural interactive economic insight website, Auckland Index - an online tool that democratises statistical data by representing data and trends via easy-to-understand infographics.

As Kagi’s first product design lead, I successfully delivered three biennial collections, with several lines still featured as current top sellers. I increased product drop frequency from four times a year to once a month to negate the impacts of seasonality.I led extensive consumer and competitor research to identify and qualify gaps in the market. The research results were then presented to marketing and sales teams to inform kaizen. I also produced Kagi’s product manufacturing specifications, product knowledge training manuals and ran training workshops pre-launch.I worked extensively with offshore suppliers in China, Hong Kong and Thailand to advance manufacturing techniques, improve quality, consistency and purchasing terms. As a result, major quality improvements were achieved, which enabled Kagi to double its previous customer warranty offer.

As planner and key support to merchandise manager, I produced weekly sales vs. stock holding reports for management and balanced inventory between 60+ Australian stores to meet fluctuating demand. I streamlined planning processes and reporting by producing custom Excel templates that integrated large SQL datasets. I was also charged with developing clearance strategies for all outlet stores and conducted two rounds of end of season focus groups to inform buying budget and forecasts.

100% pure New Zealand start up mentality – no task too big or too small. This graduate role gave me ample opportunities to develop and hone skills not just in merchandising, but across almost all business functions, including: qualitative customer insights research; product R&D; UX design; supplier management; logistics; e-commerce store management; sales and customer services; photography and digital asset production; marketing - the list goes on. I seamlessly replaced Kagi’s offshore third-party agencies as its first in-house production and procurement coordinator. I eliminated agency fees and bridged the language and cultural barriers that stemmed many growth challenges. I travelled frequently to Hong Kong and China for factory inspections, supplier reviews and large-scale trade fairs. I was Kagi’s second full-time employee, my experience and capability grew exponentially as the company increased in size, from three full-time staff to 25 in just 2.5 years.
