About Josh Lang, Mba

Tell me I can’t do something, and I will dig in and make it happen. This is the mentality that I pride myself on. For years, I was repeatedly told I would never break into biotech, but I proved my naysayers wrong. I continue to do so as I look at ways to embed myself further in the industry by staying on top of biotech trends and news as the whole drug development process fascinates me.I have tenacity and grit, and I grew up fighting the odds. My underdog spirit combined with relentless determination and easy charm has added up to strong accomplishments, including:► An anchor position on marquee contracts with Thermo Fisher Scientific where I forge connections one handshake at a time, ensuring smooth operation and strategic growth► Productive relationships with >2,000 researchers and >100 service providers► Massive reduction in response time for equipment repairs; as a direct result of my efforts, this number has been reduced from months down to mere hoursMy passion for biotech has led to making lasting relationships with key decision leaders in the industry. Through my roles with BiotechTuesday and BioXchange, I have built my marketing and event coordination expertise further. I’ve invested hours into conference coordination, panels, and social events with numerous organizations including BIO, Cambridge Healthtech Institute, and MassBio.My core areas of expertise include:✔ Due Diligence / Business Growth✔ Market Opportunity Capitalization✔ Relationship Building with KOLs / Executive-Level Management✔ FDA Drug Development Stages including Pre-Clinical and Phases I, II, and III along with Postmarket✔ Account Management✔ Performance Metrics✔ Event Coordination✔ Contracts and VendorsConnect with me here on LinkedIn, and we can talk about our mutual passion for biotech and other exciting opportunities that will undoubtedly emerge in the future. I'm also open to talking about collaboration effects.E-mail: lang.josh@yahoo.com

I apply my marketing expertise to every dimension of my position, including collaborating with both internal and external partners to deliver results on some of the top accounts for my company including with numerous Big Pharma accounts. I serve in a pivotal role, connecting key end users with vendors, and the currency of my relationships pays off daily.Whether I’m dropping into a lab to check on a piece of equipment, piloting a new app for internal inventory control, or consulting with industry KOLs to stay current on best practices, I never lose sight of my primary purpose: minimizing complexity for researchers who are advancing science in vital arenas. It matters to me that I’m contributing to disease treatment and eradication. My business acumen and keen eye for efficiency have produced impressive results, including:✔ Driving growth and revenue expansion by growing account revenue by 18% in 2014 and by additional 16% in 2015 while bringing in an average of $1.5M-$2M in new business each year. Biotechtuesday Feb 2008 - Dec 2017
    Cambridge, Ma, Us
The first time I attended an event with this group, I knew I’d found my crowd. Everyone has something to bring to the table—from a recent graduate to an established KOL—and I soak up each person’s story.I rapidly moved from an attendee in this group to a leadership role, and now I can staff an event or put together and lead a team for programs of ~200. With a membership roster of >4,000, we host monthly gatherings that range from topic-focused seminars to annual conferences. My role has expanded to include membership on teams that address:✔ Brand recognition✔ Expanded revenue streams through corporate sponsorships✔ Elevating attendanceI’ve recruited speakers, folded in nervous new attendees, and pitched in at the last minute when others weren’t available to staff their shifts. Whether I’m speaking with C-suite executives, patent attorneys, scientists, principal investigators, venture capitalists, recruiters, or marketing experts, I’m always learning with this group.
  • Contractor With Pharmaceutical Companies
Biotechnology Administrative Contractor | Quality Assurance Documentation Specialist | Data Entry
Contractor With Pharmaceutical Companies Dec 2007 - Feb 2011
While I spent the years following my undergraduate studies as a contractor, I was committed to breaking into the biotech field, and it was meaningful to me that I was supporting research and treatment in important areas such as oncology and cystic fibrosis.I completed short-term assignments with dedication and enthusiasm, sometimes covering for people on maternity leave, others while there was a surge in need due in the FDA-approval process. Highlights included:• For Merrimack Pharmaceuticals—while I managed seemingly mundane administrative tasks such as scanning and archiving documents—I recognized the value of my contributions, and I took them seriously and performed them efficiently and accurately.• For Alnara Pharmaceuticals in 2010, I had the opportunity to support the FDA review of a cystic fibrosis treatment. As we worked to usher the appropriate paperwork through this Phase III drug approval process, I quickly learned the nuances of an in-house Electronic Document Management System and supported the integration of data storage systems.• For Genzyme Corporation, I had the good fortune to support 2 product lines: Carticel and Epicel. I also joined the team that managed the clinical trial launch for MACI, the next phase of Caritcel—offering a less-invasive treatment. I knew that accuracy and speed were vital for these initiatives, and I reviewed >600 batch records each month while addressing deviations using tracking software, Trackwise.• I had the opportunity to work for Genzyme in another assignment in 2008–2009 supporting the Seprafilm product line. It was there that I helped them integrate to Salesforce.• For ViviSource Laboratories, I cared for animal test subjects used for research by 5 early-stage, start-up biotech companies.
  • Sharpshooter Imaging
Photographer | Sales Representative | Field Staff
    Sharpshooter Imaging Apr 2007 - Oct 2009
    Wheat Ridge, Co, Us
Although this position had been a stretch for me initially, I’d quickly developed a protocol for approaching sports fans and concertgoers at Fenway Park and other major venues. My goal: convince them to pose for photos and then purchase those photos as mementos. I’m proud of the fact that I surpassed the sales quota—within just a few weeks—securing >$1,500 in revenue and averaging >600 photos/game (double the quota!). I learned to give the opposing team a hard time or find another way to engage with spectators, and after I made a connection and took some great photos, I directed them to the sales page where they could make purchases. Along the way, I was able to attend some amazing events: the 2007 World Series, the 2008 NBA Finals, and Paul McCartney in concert. Plus, I learned to handle rejection and move past it.
  • American Red Cross
    Marketing Assistant
American Red Cross Oct 2006 - Nov 2007
    Washington, Dc, Us
What an honor it was to support blood drives and coordinate with local businesses in the Greater Boston area, including Cape Cod and southern Massachusetts, to elevate blood donations. While we faced only typical weather disasters such as severe winter storms during the time I served in this role, I knew how vital it was that our donations remain steady—and even increase. My job was to impress upon potential donors and corporate partners how necessary their contributions were—even without major headlines urging people to help. Some notable projects were blood drives with the New England Patriots and Red Sox.
  • Treatment Centers
Teacher’S Assistant | Behavioral Health Technician | Counselor
    Treatment Centers Dec 2004 - Aug 2006
At Judge Rotenberg Center, a residential facility that still provides intensive treatment for teens and young adults who have been diagnosed with serious mental health conditions and behavioral issues, I followed strict treatment protocols for patients who were sometimes aggressive and violent. Deaconess Cross Pointe Medical Center, an inpatient treatment center for patients with acute mental health needs and chemical dependency issues, provided me with the opportunity to learn structured treatment. Educating patients about their diagnoses was important, so I became very familiar with addiction, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and other mental health conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
