The Henry Crown Fellowship Program, established in 1997, seeks to develop the next generation of community-spirited and global leaders, ages 30-45, providing them with the tools necessary to meet the challenges of business and civic leadership in the 21st century. All have reached a point in their lives where, having achieved success, they are ready to apply their creative talents to building a better society. It honors the memory of Chicago industrialist Henry Crown (1896-1990), whose legendary career was marked by a lifelong commitment to honor, integrity, industry, and philanthropy which included giving a generous donation for the construction of the Robert Crown Sailing Center at the United States Naval Academy dedicated in 1974 in honor of his son, the late Captain Robert Crown.

Prior to forming LMT, Lani Hay honorably served the United States as a Naval Intelligence Officer and a Naval Aviation Observer. As an Air Intelligence Officer (AIO) for a Patrol Reconnaissance Squadron based in Barbers Point and Kaneohe, Hawaii, she analyzed, assembled and disseminated intelligence information for squadron aircrews and carrier air groups by providing operational assessments and briefings on time critical subjects. With a team of analysts and operators, Lani spearheaded, researched, and evaluated new exploitation techniques providing advanced development support for state-of-the-art prototype reconnaissance equipment. As a non-rated aircrew member who earned her Naval Aviation Observer Wings, Lani has over 200 hours of special flight time supporting sensitive reconnaissance missions on board the U.S. Navy's P-3 Orion. During her military career, she was an acknowledged expert on patrol reconnaissance operations and overhead collection assets. She was also a recognized tactical intelligence expert in European, Middle Eastern, and Far Eastern military operations. Lani provided in-theatre operational and tactical support of Operation Desert Fox and Operation Southern Watch. She also provided direct support of operational and tactical units during Operation Noble Anvil, the American Component of Operation Allied Force (the Kosovo War). Lani concluded her operational tour as an AIO in support of several reconnaissance missions in the Asian/Pacific Region. Additionally, Lani served as a Force Protection/Anti-terrorism Officer, Top Secret Control Officer, Security Manager, Foreign Attaché Liaison Officer for the Chief of Naval Operations, and as the Deputy Director for Training Development at the Navy and Marine Corps Intelligence Training Center, Damneck, Virginia. As a Navy Lieutenant, Lani was released from active duty in 2002, served three years as a member of the Individual Ready Reserves and was honorably discharged in 2005.

Lani Hay started her professional career in a highly competitive industry as a cashier at the world class, family focused, recreational and lifestyle destination, the Magic Putting Place, in Manassas, Virginia. This is where she established her decisive managerial skills and developed her ability to work under pressure in a demanding environment by overseeing daily operations, dealing with the general public, troubleshooting equipment failure, and ensuring accurate cash handling and detailed record keeping. She provided professional-level miniature golf instruction to customers needing assistance on difficult obstacles such as “the windmill” while ensuring an equal playing field for miniature golf lovers of all ages, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation and veteran status.
