The Public Art Project Manager and Curator will work closely with Pao Arts Center’s VisualArts Manager and Director to execute a series of 3-5 public art performance andactivations in the Spring – Fall 2024 to help Pao Arts Center achieve the following goals:• Uplift the stories, priorities, and narratives of the Chinatown and AAPI communitythrough two years of art interventions in public spaces so community members cansee themselves reflected in these spaces.• Encourage social and neighborhood cohesion and sense of belonging withopportunities for artists and community members to connect in underutilized spaces.• Bring visibility to the past, present, and future possibilities by activating select publicspaces.• Preserve the cultural vitality of Chinatown and celebrating “What makes Chinatown,Chinatown” by activating public spaces.• Support artists working in Chinatown so that artists can continue long-term,meaningful partnerships with Chinatown organizations.

Digital Soup is a collective of experimental multimedia Boston based artists that hold space for each other — in support of queer BIPOC artists — creating inclusive spaces that enable the sharing of public performative works, multimedia art, video, sound, music, and art projects.Members value inclusiveness, equity, and fairness in support of happenings that encourage togetherness and creatively contribute to a diverse Boston arts community.

The goal of the Artists Department is to support and foster a rich and diverse community of individual artists through grants, services, and advocacy. This grant program was second largest at the agency in the past 16 years, with a budget of $16 million and a total of 8,592 applicants with 7,500 awardees. The Temporary Program Officer is a seven month contracted position responsible for applicant support, grants management, and overall administration of the Massachusetts Legislature’s An Act relative to immediate COVID-19 recovery needs, which invests state and federal funds into pandemic recovery, including to the cultural sector.
