After graduating from Murray State University with my BS in Occupational Safety and Health I spent a couple of years working as a Safety Engineer for Square D Company. I was able to help remove the flywheel presses, work on machine and tooling design, and incorporate light curtain safety around robots. I was called by a past co worker from my pre-graduate days, and offered a position back in construction safety. I had origionally found the safety field through my work in the construction industry, and had worked in construction safety all through college and my internships. After a bit of time back in construction I was offered a position working for Wendy's International, New Bakery division. I was able to take my love of construction, and incorporate it with a new skill, Food safety and Quality assurance. I have always loved to try and learn new trades, and this offered me the ability to start with a company as it was being built and work through the process of line trials and into full manufacturing. Unfortunately I had to leave Ohio for family reasons, but found a job at North American lighting. Once again in the field of manufacturing safety. I used my knowledge of spill abatement, light curtains, machine and tooling safety, fall protection, and ergonomics and really enjoyed working there. When their corporate office relocated I found myself once again looking for a safety position. I consulted, and volunteered my services for a local Church, and kept my skills up while I raised my family. I am once again back to work full time in the field of safety and am happy to report I have added the field of transportation and logistical safety to my resume, as well as Safety and Training centers through Toyota Boshoku. I am currently back in Industrial Baking working for Lender's Bagels.
