I’m a graduate of the University of Virginia (wahoowa!) with a degree in Media Studies. I have a special interest in copy and/or content writing. I love connecting with people who share my passion for leveraging language to invoke people to action. During my time in undergrad, I had the pleasure of learning how to work with social media and content creation. I interned at 4 nonprofits and learned the ins and outs of multiple communications platforms. In total, I optimized 5 social media pages, spearheaded the layout and content for annual newsletters, designed a collection of social media graphics and even partnered with local magazines to expand the reach of these awesome organizations further into the community. I truly enjoyed building my experience and skill set in this area, but something was missing.I thought back to my time on UVA’s Black Monologues writing team for 3 years of my undergraduate journey. I wrote “Black at UVA” as a vent piece about feeling insignificant in a sea of people who couldn’t relate to my background. I read it to some friends, and through tears, they confessed that they too, had been fighting against this “otherness” they carried with them. Thinking about the relief in their voices filled me with a revelation. My true passion is understanding people on a deeper level and using my words to turn their stories into art. I decided to combine this with my Media Studies background and began to explore how creative writing can be used to promote and grow organizations. I found my home.Outside of work, I spend most of my time either writing for fun or serving on my church’s parking team! I truly enjoy donning a highlighter yellow t-shirt and welcoming people in the rain, snow, sleet and hail with a smile bright enough to shame a diamond. If Jesus welcomes me no matter my condition, why can’t I do the same for others?
