Design and Fabrication of Optical Metamaterial with Controllable Optical PropertiesMetamaterial broadband absorber with near ideal absorption • Characterized Pd/Polyimide thin film optical properties (refractivity and absorption) with ellipsometry in mid infrared range.• Designed, fabricated, characterized broadband and wide field of view absorber on Genetic Algorithm optimized single nanostructure layer with multiple nano resonator. • Demonstrated the absorber with average 98% absorptivity from1.77um to 4.81um within the radiation zone angle up to 45 degrees.Metamaterial broadband waveplates with high polarization conversion• Characterized Au/SiO2 thin film optical properties (refractivity and absorption) with ellipsometry in visible and near infrared range.• Designed, fabricated, characterized broad and wide field of view waveplate with couple nanorod array. • Demonstrated a half-wave plate and a quart-wave plate with over 92% reflectivity and polarization conversion ratios from 640nm to 1290nm within the radiation zone angle up to 45 degrees.Nanoparticles Electric Field Assisted Self Assembly (SA)Nanoparticle assembly for contact hole patterning (Collaboration Project with Intel)• Designed and fabricated a 50um thick assembly cell using ITO coverglass with predefined 200nm to 80nm guiding feature and vertically applied electric field.• Simulated (COMSOL) the electric field distribution and assembly force on nanoparticles.• Demonstrated dielectric nanoparticle (polystyrene and SiO2) assembly into predefined locations with small guiding feature constrains.
