I completed my PhD in Cardiovascular Physiology in 2010 at the North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus. I joined the Africa Unit for Transdisciplinarity Health Research (AUTHeR) in that same year. It is here that I truly discovered my passion for teaching and learning. Being an Associate Professor in health promotion offered me the opportunity to develop young minds to view the world of health from a different perspective. To see the complexity of human behaviour and the determinants that make health-related behaviour so fascinating. My research interest is a culmination of my knowledge of cardiovascular physiology, epidemiology and health-related behaviour. I have been involved in a multi-national epidemiological study since 2011. The Prospective Urban and Rural Epidemiology (PURE) study is a multi-country collaborative effort to understand the determinants responsible for cardiovascular diseases across countries and communities with various socioeconomic statuses. I have been the national leader for PURE-South Africa since 2016.
