Pr. Sébastien LAPORTE is Full Professor and Deputy Director at the “Institut de Biomécanique Humaine Georges Charpak” in the Arts et Métiers ParisTech School of Engineering. Sébastien LAPORTE studied Mechanics at the “Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan”, passed his PhD in Biomechanics at the “Arts et Métiers ParisTech” in 2002 and his Habilitation in 2011 at the “Université Pierre et Marie Curie”. He is particularly involved in the mechanical modeling of the human body for injury or high velocities applications, with an important link with a dynamic experimental approach. His research interests are the modeling of dynamic behavior of human tissues and structures, with a special focus on the head/neck complex biomechanics. He is member of the Scientific Committee of the “Centre européen d'études de sécurité et d'analyse des risques”. From 2013 to 2017, Pr. Laporte was the president of the Integrated Safety Network, a European Virtual Center of Excellence. Since July 2018, he is vice-president of the Société de Biomécanique, the international French speaking society for biomechanics.
