Lara previously worked for Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) for 23 years. During this time, Lara held a number of roles including, National Coordinator Professional Networks, Director Practice and Communications, Senior Manager Education, Principal of a number of schools for children on the autism spectrum and class teacher. Lara has also contributed to a number of research projects, specifically in the area of Distance Education for students on the autism spectrum. Lara has worked internationally in Guangzhou China building knowledge and skills in autism education and spent time learning about autism practice in Singapore and the UK. With a double degree in Teaching and Social Science (Early Childhood Special Education), Lara is passionate about growth in service provision for children on the autism spectrum and offering quality, evidence informed practices. Her focus is developing understanding and teaching skills to maximise independence, success and ultimately inclusion in a child's local community. This led Lara to establish her own company in 2024 called Vivid Early Learning which specialises in Early Childhood Care, Education, Therapy and Support for children on the autism spectrum or with other developmental differences. Vivid Early Learning offers NDIS services and supports for children under 9 years of age with plans to open an inclusive long day care centre in the future.
