At the Merage JCC, my primary roles are as a swim coach and swim instructor. I have coached and taught lifesaving skills to hundreds of children to ensure safety around the pool deck in my 12 years. I have taught from infants to adults in their 80’s, each requiring a different skill set for them to be successful. I am also a supervisor at the facility where I use conflict resolution skills to solve customer issues to mutual satisfaction. In addition I had to schedule swim lessons, handle billing issues, and facility management. I am also a BLS American Heart Association (AHA) instructor. I present the AHA curriculum on CPR, AED, and First Aid to 10 employees per class a month to acquire certification. I have had a great opportunity to teach people how to help others and provide information on health and safety. I am able to provide a positive atmosphere for questions and review of trainees to ensure proper standards are met. Because of this I am also the safety officer for the center. This mainly requires me being available for any emergency situation and looking for unsafe environments at the facility.

My role at University high school was as the head swim and dive coach which was a fulfilling job that allowed me to explore my leadership abilities and team-building skills. I would schedule meet line-ups for multi-level events for each individual swimmer and plan effective workouts to suit individual progress. I also relayed and enforced school rules for continued eligibility on the team. Working with 50 plus high schoolers has taught me how to manage a large group of teenagers to come together to obtain one common goal. During the swim season, I would communicate with not only students and parents but also with the district and school administration.
