Lead the fulfillment of the college's commitment to student equity, including coordinating the development and assessment of the implementation of the college's Student Equity Plan. In addition, responsible for oversight of the college's efforts for educational success for all students. Work with the entire College community to fulfill the District mission by directly assessing in the development, implementation, and assessment of strategies and programs to enhance student equity at all levels of the college.

Explore equity imbalances at the college through a variety of analysis and activities such as: Supported the disaggregation of college wide data, directed trainings on calculating disproportionality/achievement gaps (among Taskforce members, Deans, Faculty, and Staff across the college), and a key collaborator in the preparation of the Student Equity Plan. In addition, other activities include the design and implementation of ad-hoc and automated reports through SQL and other related programming languages through the use of querying tools, and directed the implementation of campus-wide surveys to support institutional effectiveness in areas such as student engagement and student experience.

Support and facilitate performance-based planning activities such as Local Control and Accountability plans, planning and implementation of instructional strategies to support special population learners, and assess student learning outcomes across a variety of populations. Key collaborator in evaluating student learning outcomes in over six programs targeting professionals in the special education field. Developed an evaluation plan for all current projects under an agency program, focused on measuring the effectiveness of programs targeting children with special needs. Implemented a longitudinal evaluation component to capture the process and impact of all current projects under an agency program.Managed the conceptualization and designing of appropriate research and testing materials for a wide variety of populations including parents, teachers, and state officials, in both English and Spanish. Managed research plans with various state and federal agencies, as well as with numerous agencies across the country. Documented and disseminated the result of research through seminars, conferences, and regional meetings, as well as supported grant writing.Other duties included participating in hiring committees and assisting in new employee trainings.

Directed community programs focused on decreasing the achievement gap in the Bay Area. Spear headed and executed all aspects of a mentoring program with over 100 middle school and high school students with the goal of positively impacting the graduation rate of underserved students. Measure efficacy and impact of educational software on students with special need, particularly with ASD. Developed research plans with numerous school districts, as well as work closely with clinics across the US. Assists in planning future research projects according to variety of methods to be used, availability and quantity of resources, and number of subordinate personnel assigned to participate in project. Evaluate validity of findings and prepare reports of completed projects for publication in technical journals, for presentation to agency requesting project, and for use in further applied or theoretical research activities. Dissertation: A Mixed Method Study of the Factors Associated with the Academic Achievement of Latina/o College Students From Predominantly Mexican American Backgrounds: A Strengths-Based Approach.Advisor: Teresa McDevitt, Ph.D.

Course: Educational Psychology for Elementary School Teachers.300 level course targeted to future elementary school teachers. Prepared and evaluated homework assignments, exams, and quizzes. Prepared course materials for lectures, created lessons plans, and graded exams and lectured classes.

Consultant for the project titled 'Developing a framework for understanding English language learners'. Directed literature reviews and proposed a framework for defining the ELL population. Collaborated with outside researchers to develop research strategies for future research with ELL populations. Paper will be published in conjunction with other ELL related research in 2011.

Directed the development of a framework for understanding ESL/ELL students, as a basis for understanding the impact of all ETS' large-scale assessments on this population. Presented results to ETS research scientist and staff, attended talks/ seminars related to psychometrics, large-scale assessments, and professional development. Other duties included collaborating on new company prototypes as well as other assessments.
