Allied Therapy Services
San Jose, Ca
As head teacher at Allied's Beginning Center, I was involved in: creating and implementing curriculum individualized for the needs of a culturally and linguistically diverse parent-participation center-based early start program for children with a wide variety of special needs (including but not limited to cerebral palsy, chromosomal abnormalities, autism spectrum disorders, speech impairment, visual impairment, hearing impairment, intellectual disability, and undiagnosed developmental delay) aged 18-35 months; encouraging respect, teamwork, empathy, and problem-solving in staff, parents, siblings, and students; resolving issues with honesty, respect, and tact; emphasizing learning through play in a positive, (physically and emotionally) safe environment; implementing a strengths-based approach focused on students’ likes (what’s important to them), strengths (what they’re good at), and supports (what’s important for them; how to use their interests and strengths to help them to achieve their IFSP outcomes); demonstrating open, clear communication with each student's team; leading staff meetings; interviewing and participating in hiring staff in cooperation with the company owner and input from other staff.I also did early intervention home visiting.
