The two biggest influences in my life have been my father and Girl Scouts. Growing up I watched my dad try to sell in every industry that the 70's-80's-90's promised him a great fortune in. He failed many times but always reinvented himself and came back with great enthusiasm. As a kid, he gave me many classic pieces of literature to read like How to Win Friends & Influence People and The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People when I was 12. Was it boring and inconsequential as a young kid? Yes. Do I still have those books and read them? Also yes. Needless to say, year after year I broke Girl Scout cookie sales.Throughout my career, I can think back to a few faces that I truly enjoyed working with but if I am honest, the ones who stand out the most were the ones who gave me some pretty harsh feedback. As a people pleaser, I would instantly put their suggestions to use even if I felt a little averse. I was too young to know that not all criticism is negative and there is much positivity that comes with accepting feedback. If they were standing in front of me today I would thank them as I can repeat word for word what they saw in me to change that could make me better. And it did!Currently, the person who supports me in becoming a highflyer is my partner. He has landscaped how I perceive what is in front of me as my daily consultant, therapist, and influencer. This has led me to pursue an entirely different career path, fail a few times, and jump back up only to reinvent myself with great enthusiasm just like my father did growing up. Along this journey, I realized the responsibility that I too have to build up my fellow professionals. My role has a bit of data analysis, technical thinking, group workshops, and carrying consumer insights back to the team in a way that will create engagement & action. I am a hands-on person who likes to check in everywhere and make sure everyone is content, and that things are running smoothly and efficiently. -
