• Worked in an agile, fast-paced environment, where deploys to production happen multiple times a day. Responsible for the full lifecycle of developing a feature for production: writing unit and integration tests, QA, monitoring builds & deploys, and writing docs• Participated in the on-call rotation for the Checkout team, responding to other teams’ pages, monitoring alerts, and participating in incident resolution• Planned and executed load tests, managing different combinations of features, to make sure Checkout was ready to handle the volume of traffic expected• Integrated captcha solutions into Checkout to mitigate fraud and platform impact from restock monitors, bot traffic and card testing• Used load test results to identify areas of optimization within Checkout, including refactoring inefficient code, and reducing the impact of heavy SQL queries with better indexing and caching opportunities, strategically adding metrics as needed to improve observability• Explored performance optimizations using materialized views backed by Kafka consumers to improve the initial Checkout page load time.• Contributed to the design and implementation of Checkout’s internal data serialization system

• Maintained Checkout’s load testing framework, and contributed to a large-scale refactoring effort to simplify the codebase• Ran weekly load tests at a scale of tens of thousands of Checkouts per minute, analyzing the impact on the rest of our platform, monitoring database health, error rates, dropped requests, and cache hit/miss rates• Investigated errors discovered during load tests, requiring a deep knowledge of our stack and the anatomy of a Checkout request

• Implemented REST microservices, using NodeJS, Typescript and the Express framework, that communicate with external psychometric assessment providers to assign assessments to users, and retrieve scores and reports• Developed a Java Spring batch service that sends reminder emails daily for candidates that have upcoming assessments• Developed a Spring Boot service that retrieves data from completed assessments and performs calculations to facilitate making predictions

• Lead an after-school program once a week to teach a group of kids aged 9-14 how to code, to get them excited about tech• Organized various activities to keep the students engaged, from coding to simple circuits with code.org, Scratch, Python, BBC micro:bit
