Co-instructor for the Science and Human Experience Freshman Seminar and the Science and Civic Action courses at Tufts University Tisch College of Civic Life. Collaborated with an interdisciplinary group of Tufts professors to design courses that explored the interface of science and society across the arc of human life. Mentored students in science communication through op-ed and video assignments.

Taught Anatomy and Physiology I & II and Nutrition to a diverse group of students. Designed innovative lecture and lab components to engage and challenge critical thinking. Implemented Blackboard course website for effective communication. Piloted novel lab curriculum and developed protocols used by all faculty.

Designed and implemented laboratory curriculum for introductory, intermediate and upper level undergraduate biology courses in Physiology, Cell Biology, Microbiology, Genetics and Ecology for ~120 students per course. Collaborated closely with multiple faculty in the design of integrated lecture and laboratory classes, active learning activities, course website, student examinations and assignments. Prepared student laboratory manuals, laboratory lecture presentations, assignment instructions and grading rubrics. Managed graduate student teaching assistants in delivery of engaging laboratory exercises, high quality presentations, rigorous student assessment and consistent grading practices. Investigating the potential to recalibrate the wound healing potential of fibroblasts derived from diabetic foot ulcers by reprogramming through an induced pluripotent state. Contributed epigenomic analyses and expertise to collaborative projects using patient-derived cell lines, induced pluripotent cells and 3D tissue engineering techniques. Engaged in curriculum development and teaching high-school, undergraduate and graduate students in the fields of nutrition, epigenetics and science literacy.

Course director for graduate level NUTR336: Nutritional Genomics and Epigenomics. Designed curriculum in emerging genomic and epigenomic fields to explore underlying biological mechanisms, research methods and translation of personalized health to society through lectures, discussions and grant-writing assignments. Prepared and delivered lectures with an emphasis on discussion; designed, distributed and graded tests and assignments; assembled a team of Tufts researchers as guest lecturers.

Collaborated with nutrition researchers to process DNA methylation array experiments, analyze genome-wide data through optimized statistical programming methods and interpret results in specific biological contexts.

Investigated genome-wide DNA methylation patterns in response to Western-style diet consumption and calorie restriction over the course of the aging process. Designed and conducted research on systematic genome-wide DNA methylation patterns in animal models leading to bioinformatic identification of age and diet epigenetic biomarkers. Optimized methods for novel microarray equipment and created statistically robust programming methods reflecting underlying epigenetic biology to analyze comprehensive DNA methylation array.

Investigated the effect of maternal supplementation with dietary arachidonic and docosahexaenoic acids during pregnancy and lactation on offspring bone development.
