• Analysis of food, cosmetic, OTC drug, and medical device product formulae and labeling, and creation of a revised label to comply with FDA and USDA regulations in conjunction with a graphic designer.• Review and working knowledge of the United States Code, Code of Federal Regulations, Federal Register, Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, Federal Compliance Policy Guides, Dietary Health and Supplement Education Act, Fair Packaging and Labeling Act, Food Safety Modernization Act, Good Manufacturing Practices, ISO Standards, and other governmental and private sources.• Preparation and submission of petitions to FDA to update company information on Import Alert Green Lists.• Composition of technical reports outlining potential compliance issues and possible changes to product formulations and labeling to bring products into compliance with FDA regulations.• Correspondence with FDA Compliance Officers regarding products in detention and under Import Alert; analysis and correction of labeling and formulation issues resulting in the release of detained products.• Communication and interaction with international clients and simultaneous management of up to 30 projects.• Submission of meat and poultry product labeling to USDA for successful sketch label approval.• Analysis of food contact substance formulae and labeling, including food packaging, manufacturing equipment, and sanitizers, for compliance with FDA food additive regulations, and FDA and individual state Food Codes.• National travel to give educational seminars on the Food Safety Modernization Act.• Development of efficient processes and review methods, interaction with all company departments.• Peer review of technical reports, client correspondence, correspondence with FDA and USDA officials, and regulatory submissions, training and mentoring of new employees.

- Collection, taxonomic identification, enumeration, and biomass analysis of benthic samples to be used in assessing the environmental health of the benthic communities of the Chesapeake Bay.- Use of monitoring and sampling gears to collect benthic samples on a Carolina Skiff and a large research vessel.- Preparation, operation and troubleshooting of all laboratory and sampling equipment, including salinometers, GPS, and microscopes.- Organization, input, and verification of appropriate data and records for the Chesapeake Bay Program.

Summer Research Position supported by a National Science Foundation PEET Grant- Identification, description, and illustration of described and undescribed polychaete species of the family Scalibregmatidae.- Investigation and revision of the taxonomic relationships of the family Scalibregmatidae.- Use of laboratory equipment such as compound light and scanning electron microscopes, critical point dryer, sputtercoater.
