As a member of the Business Investment Team I am responsible for identifying prospective investment opportunities in Nova Scotian life sciences and healthcare start-ups. In this role I conduct all aspects of the investment review, approval and closing cycle, including pipeline development and support, screening opportunities, analysis, due diligence, negotiation and making recommendations to the investment committee. I also work with government and private stakeholders to support Nova Scotia's life sciences strategy and work to build relationships to help bring outside private capital into the province in the form of investment in our start ups.

Innovacorps' mission is to find, fund, and foster innovative Nova Scotia start-ups that strive to change the world. As a member of the Investment Team I focus on identifying, vetting, and recommending angel to seed-stage investment opportunities in the Life Sciences sector. I also work with the Venture Services Team to support acceleration strategies and pipeline development for all of our target industries, including information technology, clean technology, life sciences and ocean technology.

At Eva Garland Consulting (EGC) I focused on helping researchers, clinicians, and entrepreneurs advance innovative technologies and research programs through non-dilutive funding. Contributions included development of Strategic Plans for obtaining non-dilutive funding, assisting with idea/product development, grant writing, commercialization plans, manuscripts, and post-award project management. I helped clients design, develop, write and submit proposals for NIH, NSF, CDMRP, BARDA and USAMRDC grants and contracts in diverse areas including drug development, in vitro diagnostics, medical devices, vaccines, eHealth technologies, computational modelling, artificial intelligence and machine learning, app and software development, chemistry, personal protective devices, and bio-based crop protection.As a member of the leadership team overseeing execution of EGC's contract with the NIH to run the Phase I Applicant Assistant Program I was responsible for training of all AAP coaches from program inception until May 2021, preparation of all materials for delivery to participants, and ensuring consistency across the program.

At Affinergy I identified unmet needs in healthcare and developed new biotechnology to meet these needs. Working with the biology, chemistry, and biochemistry teams I developed research and development plans to assess feasibility. I identified, recruited, and communicated with KOLs, designed studies, wrote SBIR grants for funding, and performed market research. I also participated in associated product development, business development, and commercialization activities.
