Phnom Penh, Cambodia

At the Harpswell Foundation Dormitory and Leadership Center for Women I worked and lived with young women from impoverished, countryside families who are given competitive university scholarships. I served as a mentor and connected residents with internships in addition to networking with foreign servants in the community, procuring employment and guest speakers. As a positive role model, I taught classes on current events and language, focusing on critical thinking and leadership.

Phnom Penh, Cambodia

As Program Officer at A New Day Cambodia I was responsible for a wide variety of tasks. My duties included reporting to various donor organizations, including TOMS Shoes, overseeing correspondence between the 99 residents and their sponsors and sustaining the organization's newsletter to keep international stakeholders informed, among other things. Moreover, I also interacted with the children at ANDC in both informal conversation settings and formally taught classes.

Khovd, Mongolia

My host country agency was the Western Mongolian branch of the American Culture and Information Center (ACIC). At ACIC, not only did I work towards capacity building by cooperating closely with host country national counterparts, but I also taught gifted teens from low-income families through daily classes tailored to their abilities and needs. Other projects of I created and sustained included wheelchair procurement for indigent children and the creation of a Kazakh Community Center. Additionally, I founded and sustained clubs and seminars to develop a variety of skills and knowledge in community members including large-scale English Olympics and a Cooking Club for Women. I also served on the Volunteer Advisory Council and Peer Support Network.
